Tell the Governor:
Stop Overtaxing Cannabis!
Governor Murphy is proposing an increase to the Social Equity Excise Fee (SEEF) for 2025.
Cannabis consumers would see a sudden, drastic tax increase – potentially up to $30 per ounce or 2,500% – that would stifle the industry’s growth and raise the cost of cannabis for consumers.
Since the recreational market launched, cannabis costs have come down, but this steep tax hike will raise costs throughout the supply chain, hitting producers, dispensaries. and consumers.
Independent cultivators and dispensaries will be disproportionately impacted, leading to higher prices for consumers and making it harder for these newly licensed businesses to survive.
You can help!
Use the form to tell Governor Murphy and Chairperson Houenou to stop increases to the SEEF, keep cannabis affordable for consumers, and allow the industry to grow. New Jersey cannabis consumers can’t afford higher taxes on cannabis.
